POPS Fernandez admits that she works hard for her two sons, Robin and Ram. "When drastic changes happen in our family, I consult them right away before they hear about it from somebody else. Call it a mother's touch. I'm grateful that they're growing up into polite, intelligent and mature young men," Pops beams.
When she goes malling with her sons, they go to Pancake House or Sugi. Aside from her career and sons, her other passions are clothes and traveling. "I like to browse when I shop, but if I see something that I really like, I buy it without thinking of the price," she confesses. No wonder she's always well-dressed.
Trendy
How would she define her style? "Personal style should be comfortable, not contrived. It's also a matter of simplicity and understated elegance. I like to wear clothes that are casual. Occasionally though, I want to be trendy and hip, especially with my hair."
"I'm maarte! I want to look good all the time, to be glamorous. People watch you because they want to see how you tried to look good for them," she opines.
Pops is keen on coordination: Her outfit has to match her shoes and
accessories But, her outfit depends on her mood. "There are days na, even if I don't go out, I still want to be dressed. Sometimes, I change twice or thrice before I leave the house. I love wearing pants," she adds.
She has also learned to love acting, but admits that doing a soap can be emotionally taxing. 'You have to sustain your emotions, you cry and suffer as your character does. When you do soaps, there's a lot of waiting involved. You have to come prepared, because you don't know what's going to happen next.
"On the other hand, singers are always prompt. We get the job done, then we leave. If I were to rate them, I'd prefer singing, hosting and acting-in that order."
First time
Pops is excited about her Valentine show, "Queens on Fire," with Regine Velasquez at the Ultra. She recalls: "Performing abroad, we bonded, we ate and shopped together. Masamang kasama si Regine sa shopping. Kasi ako, si Ms Practical. Si Regine, hindi nagsusukat ng damit. When we were in Europe, we rode this huge bus. Tapos, doon na kami naglagay ng make-up while we were trading stories."
Pops has already realized many of her dreams. But, she still has some goals left: to write scripts and direct!
