SAN DIEGO - The Queens of Fire Concert in San
Diego was a super success! Take it from the
ticket sales, and the screams for the performers
Pops, Regine, and of course, the hunkie Erik
Santos.
I personally covered a couple of their tours in San
Diego prior to the concert day last April 1, 2005. I
thought it would be too early to arrive 30 minutes
before the tour -- but to my surprise, the big crowd
at Mission Asian Market in Oceanside was really
big!
I had a hard time parking my car and packs of
people arrived in groups, mostly are baby
boomers and professionals themselves who
took time out from their busy schedules to catch
up with Pops, Regine, And Erik.
Sure, it was a big boost for the sponsors and
owners of Mission Asian Market, like Liz and
Maricel Holandez. Kudos for a well organized
reception!
I then followed them at Betsy's Bakery in Mira
Mes....and whooola! There is a long line of
people who eagerly awaited and welcomed
Pops, Regine, and Erik, who in return signed
autographs and did tons of picture taking.
Tickets were sold out, most specially the VIP
seats. As what the producers said, people
bought their tickets in bulk and in groups.
Adding more excitement to the show, Erik Santos,
the current Philippine Prince of Pop, was a very
hot addition for Pops and Regine. Oh yeah...erik
has the voice and the lively presence onstage. I
won't be surprise if he gets his own concert tour
soon!
Even my seat mates, majority of which are
registered nurses, screamed hard for Erik during
the concert. And when I told them that I was in
their city tour in San Diego day before, quite a
number requested for some photos or at least be
published in our website.
Eirk has already scored a Double Platinum Award
for his eponymous debut CD, “Iniwan”, under Star
Records. true to what they say, Erik is a fresh,
exciting recording artist to watch for.
A “Star In A Million” champion, this phenomenal
new artist has already made his mark, endearing
the young and old alike, not only with his soothing
voice, but with his smiling eyes, flawless fair skin
and friendly boy-next door character. The new
singing hearthrob’s rise to the top last year was
nothing short of phenomenal with grueling
schedule to match. A mainstay of ABS-CBN’s
Sunday program “ASAP”, Erik is also busy with
product endorsements, local TV shows and
recordings.
The show was produced by Starmedia
Entertainment, headed by Ms. Ana Puno, in
cooperation with Danny Zamora and Nanshi
Ignacio.
In San Diego, the show co-presentors are Smart
Padala, The Law Offices of Michael Gurfinkel,
Betsy’s Bread Deluxe, Dr. Tess Mauricio Scripps
Ranch Dermatology, Continental Airlines, Sand
Castle Inn and Ben’s Traditional Asian Fusion
Cuisine. Major sponsors are Filipino Press and
TFC. Minor sponsors are E-C Jewelers, Manila
Tokyo and Mission Asian Market Oceanside.
