LOVE IN ITS TRUEST SENSE
Love…it is one of the overused words we hear and see everywhere. It’s almost a must to say it right before we end a phone conversation not just to a boyfriend but also even to a good friend just to remind them that we care. Of course, it is also mentioned every time one is about to leave for a certain period of time. It is almost just another word to say just for the sake of saying it.
What is love? It has been quite a mystery to me for quite a while now. Do we just substitute the word love to other words like care, concern, missing, or just plain “it sounds good to say now-so, ‘love you’”. In the dictionary, it’ll give you definitions such as – “feel affection for adore, worship, find irresistible, be in love with.”
So, when we tell someone we love them, do we adore them and worship them? How deeply do we really feel for them?
They say that love has to be unconditional, meaning, feel affection for, adore, worship. In other words, when we say we love someone there has to be no ifs and buts. It’s pretty much how we love our children. We guide them on how they’re supposed to live their life in the future, but no matter what they do in life and how they choose to live it, we accept them for who they are. We care for them and take care of them when they need us even if sometimes we feel that they have hurt us or disappointed us.
When we say we love someone, it is actually a choice; it is a 100% decision that we made to accept that person in whichever shape or form he or she comes in.
When you think about it, it seems hard and impossible to do. How can you love someone who’s done you wrong, has hurt you and sometimes doesn’t even acknowledge your presence? You have to remember that it is a choice that you have made… So, you don’t only put 50% of understanding or 70% of patience, but 100% love – unconditional and unrestricted.
If we can love the way we should maybe there’ll be less hurt and pain in the world. Next time you tell someone you love them, try to remember what it actually means…
